As part of the Workshop Architects team, Envision Strategies provided retail dining strategic planning and consulting for a renovation and expansion of the K-State Student Union. The initial phase of our work included comprehensive market research on customer preferences for services and amenities to be included in the Union. For the Dining Services component of the project, we conducted a comprehensive market assessment, peer benchmarking, and a self operation vs. outsourcing analysis that led to the decision to convert from a contracted model to multiple tenant operators. Based on this decision, we analyzed potential demand, completed a detailed space program, and assisted the architect in the development of conceptual design studies for the foodservice areas of the building. In the words of Bill Smriga, Executive Director of the K-State Student Union, "Our current model is a reflection of the plan provided by Envision Strategies, and in the first year of operation we experienced a financial improvement of over $400,000".
