Case Study

University of Minnesota Twin Cities

St. Paul, Minnesota
St. Paul Student Center Programming

Building upon a previous study of the St. Paul Student Center, Envision Strategies partnered with an architect in updating the study by providing dining programming recommendations for a renovated student center which included considerations for the replacement of the adjacent dining hall’s move to the Student Union, research and space programming. The project focused on re-evaluating the dining program in light of new developments, specifically addressing the removal of the residential dining hall and associated programs from the updated plans for the St. Paul Campus Center (SPCC), while retaining the existing Bailey Dining facility. Building on insights gained from the 2021 Student Unions Feasibility Study and the 2023 SPCC Programming, Envision Strategies aimed to explore and provide dining options for two proposed scenarios: a new SPCC on its current site and an alternative at the Magrath Library site. The team’s comprehensive analysis facilitated informed decision-making, ensuring that dining services effectively met the needs of the campus community while aligning with the University’s strategic goals.
